Vue - Death of a Girl
Gold Standard Laboratories
Apparently, Vue were an Oakland band previously called the Audience,
compared to Pulp and the Birthday Party, among others. According to the
liner notes, this band contains 6 people; it sounds like a 3-piece.
That's not a slam, either. "The Death of a Girl" actually caught me by
surprise.
It's sweaty, jumping-around, spill-beer-all-over-you rock. Unfortunately,
"The Death of a Girl" is only an EP, so their potential is rather lost on
me. If the title track, a slow, exasperating, rage-filled sing-along, is
any indication, hopefully Vue will follow up quickly. I'd like to hear
more that they have to offer.
