The Causey Way - Testimony
Fueled by Ramen
The Causey Way have a gimmick -- they're not a cult. However, on this EP,
like on the rest of their recorded material, they walk a fine line between
emphasizing the qualities of Causey, their cult leader, and denying their
cult standing.
The gimmick seems like it would wear out fairly quickly, but in the last
year and a half I've heard two Causey Way EPs and one LP, and the joke
hasn't gotten old yet. This is, of course, due to the quality of the
music. The Causey Way alternates between the scientific surf-rock of Man
or Astroman? and throwbacks to 80s new-wave. This interesting combination
does not get old quickly. I'm still partial to the Causey Way's "WWCD" EP,
but their Testimony EP runs a close second. Hopefully Causey and his cult
will be able to produce a few more quality records before the ATF comes in
to shut them down.
