The Blue Ontario - New Frequencies 12" EP
The Best Sex I Ever Had
Prediction for '99: Indie bands using heavy guitar effects, keyboard, and
"dreamy" vocals.
Last year ex-Christie Front Drive band, Antarctica, formed and released a
great CDEP. They combined equal parts the Cure and My Bloody Valentine. Fast
forward 6 months. The OTHER ex-Christie Front Drive band, the Blue Ontario,
releases a 12"ep. Guess what? Yeah, you guessed it, keyboards, heavy guitar
and vocal effects. No, I'm not complaining, I absolutely love this 12". The
first side has 2 long, drawn out songs, each rocking in their own ways, yet
beautiful and dream-like. The flip side, however, contains remixes by three
separate artists.
I love it. No wonder this sound is catching on, this is a brilliant ep. If you
can find it, buy it. If you can't, well, then you're missing the beginning of a
sound that is shortly going to take the indie/emo scene by storm. You've been
warned.
